SEND

At The Gatwick School, we are committed to offering a school experience which ensures the best possible Chances, Choices and Culture opportunities for all our students. We are committed to every child achieving to the best of their potential through an inclusive classroom experience.

All students are valued and encouraged to develop confidence in their abilities and strengths and to have high aspirations for themselves. Support is provided for any students when need is identified. This is provided through a graduated response, recognising each child as an individual. For the range of needs we see at our school (below), we provide support throughout both primary and secondary phases through the following streams of intervention:

  • Communication and interaction, for example, autistic spectrum condition and speech and language difficulties
  • Cognition and learning, for example, dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia
  • Social, emotional and mental health difficulties, for example, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiance, attachment difficulties, Tourette’s and anxiety
  • Sensory and/or physical needs, for example, visual impairments, hearing impairments, processing difficulties and epilepsy

If you feel that your child needs some intervention due to a SEND need, please make contact with Mr Mohamed (SENCO) or Miss Price (Assistant SENCO).
