Fundraising

At TGS, we are proud to be a school community that values compassion, responsibility, and making a difference. Throughout the year, our students, staff, and families take part in a wide range of fundraising events to support both local and global causes.

From charity fun runs and cake sales to enterprise challenges and themed awareness days, our fundraising efforts not only raise vital funds but also teach our pupils the importance of empathy, teamwork, and a strong sense of social responsibility. These events are a meaningful part of school life and reflect our commitment to helping others and building a better future for all.

Primary Student Voice Champions UNICEF’s ShoeShare Initiative

Our Primary Student Voice team led a ShoeShare collection in collaboration with UNICEF and Clarks. This initiative gives old or unwanted shoes a new purpose—keeping them out of landfill while supporting vulnerable children and communities around the world. Since it began in 2008, ShoeShare has raised over £1.6 million, helping UNICEF fund life-changing programmes across the globe.

Team GB Gymnast Oakley Banks Inspires at TGS

TGS was thrilled to welcome Team GB athlete Oakley Banks for an inspirational and action-packed visit. Oakley shared his journey as a professional gymnast, including his experiences competing in the European Youth Olympics, British Championships, and various European competitions.

Our pupils were captivated as Oakley showcased his incredible talent and spoke about the dedication and perseverance required to compete at an elite level. Students had the exciting opportunity to hold real medals, ask thoughtful questions, and witness high-level gymnastics up close.

This memorable day not only motivated and inspired our students but also helped raise over £800 through the generous support of our TGS family. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed—it was a fantastic example of our school community coming together to provide the best opportunities and choices for our young people.

Festive Fun and Fundraising: Primary Students Take Part in the Reindeer Run for St Catherine’s Hospice

The festive spirit was in full swing at TGS as our Primary students laced up their trainers and donned their antlers for the annual Reindeer Run in support of St Catherine’s Hospice. This much-loved event brought together fun, fitness, and fundraising, all for a fantastic cause close to the hearts of many in our community.

Pupils excitedly navigated a festive obstacle course, which included everything from challenging turns to a magical “snowstorm” that added extra excitement to the run! Students skipped and danced their way through the course, all while raising funds for vital hospice care.

Our brilliant Sports Leaders played a key role in the day’s success by guiding and encouraging the younger children with enthusiasm and care. Their leadership and kindness helped ensure that everyone felt confident and supported throughout the event.

Thanks to the generosity of our TGS family—including students, parents, carers, and staff—we were proud to raise over £700 for St Catherine’s Hospice. These funds will go directly towards providing compassionate care and support for individuals and families facing terminal illness.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make the Reindeer Run such a joyful and meaningful event. It was a wonderful example of our school community coming together to make a difference while creating lasting memories for our students.

TGS Students Raise Over £5,000 in Youth Enterprise Challenge for St Catherine’s Hospice

This year, both our primary and secondary students proudly took part in the Youth Enterprise Project—a local initiative that challenges schools to compete in raising the most funds for St Catherine’s Hospice over a ten-week period. The project not only promoted entrepreneurial thinking but also encouraged students to work together in support of a cause that touches many lives in our local community.

As part of the project, students had the opportunity to visit St Catherine’s Hospice, where they saw firsthand the incredible work being done to support patients and their families. This experience deeply inspired them to go above and beyond in their fundraising efforts.

Throughout the ten weeks, students planned and delivered a wide range of creative and engaging fundraising activities. These included weekly cake sales, a Valentine’s pop-up shop, and themed events such as World Book Day. One of the highlights was a brilliantly organised quiz night, which even welcomed teachers from our partner school in Colorado, USA—bringing a truly international spirit to the event!

Thanks to the dedication, creativity, and teamwork of our students—and the generous support of our wider TGS family—we were thrilled to raise over £5,000 for St Catherine’s Hospice. We are also incredibly proud to share that our students won the ‘Best Presentation’ award on the celebration night, in recognition of their outstanding work and commitment throughout the challenge.

This project has not only raised vital funds but also helped our students develop essential life skills, including leadership, communication, and resilience. We look forward to continuing our partnership with St Catherine’s Hospice and are excited to see what we can achieve together in the years to come.
