Receptions People in the Community

On Monday last week, Reception had a visit from an Optician. They learnt about what they do to help keep us healthy, and found out how different parts of your eyes can tell them different things. The children asked lots of really sensible questions, and tried on trial frames so that they could see that a visit to the opticians was nothing to worry about! They also tried an occluder frame which means they can’t see out of one eye—this is to check the muscles in the eyes and make sure our eyes are working together.

Between 5-16 children can have a free eye test, once a year. Our optician gave out stickers and made the children feel comfortable, as part of our ‘people who help us’ unit this term. We are looking forward to inviting in a police officer, and the fire brigade this week!

Year 2 Enterprise Week

Year two worked really hard last week in Maths with all the counting and calculating money! They made a number of goody bags, and baked cupcakes for the whole school! The total input of money was £75, and they have managed to make that into £700! The classes will consider how to spend that in the most effective way.
