Start of Term Letter to Primary Parents from Miss Nagji

Dear Parents,

Update: I apologise for the miscommunication below, children are in class from 830am however the playgrounds are supervised from 815am. Apologies for any confusion, Miss Nagji

Welcome back to a new year at The Gatwick School. As the children get back into the routine, we thought it would be useful to remind you of some of the key items your child is expected to bring to school. These items will usually stay in school, except for the water bottle which needs to be cleaned and refilled:

  • PE kit

  • Coat (weather appropriate eg hoods during wet weather)

  • Water bottle

  • Break time snack for Key Stage 2 only (one piece of fruit or vegetable)

We request that all belongings are clearly named. It would be helpful if your child recognises their items even if they are brand new, so it is a good idea to show them to your child. This will give them the responsibility to look after the items at school.

If your child is over the age of 5 and they would like to have milk at break time, please login and register at for this service.

The Gatwick School offer OASIS clubs to children for one hour after school to extend their learning. These are run by school staff with a range of activities each day. Please use online form at  to confirm your child’s attendance at OASIS clubs. As part of the extended school day please provide a small, healthy snack for children to eat before the club such as a piece of fruit/vegetable.

We look forward to sharing our exciting learning environment with you and your child. We will be holding the annual MacMillan Big Coffee Morning on Friday 27th September 2019 from 845-930 for Early Years and Key Stage One, and from 230-315 for Key Stage Two.

This year we would like to share the dates for Paragon events in advance. Please note that all parents and guardians will be invited into the classrooms to take part in something with your child at this time.

Healthy Roots have updated the menus for school lunch this year and the mains include jacket potatoes, wraps or sandwiches additional to the hot meat or vegetarian main meal option. Children who receive free school meals can choose a main and a pudding within their free school meals allowance. Anything additional to this, and children who are not free school meals, will be charged to their Parent Pay account which needs to be topped up in advance.

We really appreciate the commitment to supporting our travel plan, please don’t forget to use the drop off zones, and remember that the children are supervised from 830am and therefore should not be dropped before that.

Thank you for your continued support, I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Yours Sincerely,

Nirali Nagji

(Deputy Head)
