I write to inform you that Miss Kelly our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) will be leaving us this Easter. Miss Kelly has been with The Gatwick School from our very first day and has taught in the Secondary Phase across a variety of subjects. While at The Gatwick School Miss Kelly qualified to be SENCo and has developed SEND provision in the school over the last 2 years. Miss Kelly is taking a break from teaching for the time being and everyone at The Gatwick School wishes her all the best for the future, including her impending marriage in the summer.
We have recruited a new SENCo, Ms Dale, who joins the Leadership Team. Ms Dale will commence working at The Gatwick School on Monday 11th June 2018, after she has finished with her current school exam commitments. Mr Hall Deputy Head, who is also SENCo qualified, will cover the SENCo duties for the interim period until she starts. Ms Dale is a qualified SENCo and English teacher with a degree in English Literature. She studied at Glasgow and Kingston Universities and has 11 years teaching experience in several inner London schools as an Assistant Headteacher and 3 years working in Brighton. Ms Dale is familiar with strategies to support students with a wide range of needs.
With this key change in SEND personnel at our school, we would like to make the current SEND provision transition as seamless as possible. Ms Dale will be holding a number of 'coffee morning drop in's' in the run up to her start date at The Gatwick School. This is in order to meet informally with parents of SEND children who currently have provision in the school and to discuss their children's individual needs. This will provide Ms Dale with good background to many of our children when she starts officially. We will shortly notify parents of children with SEND provision with the dates and times available both before and after Easter for the 'coffee morning drop in's'.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have a queries.
Mark Roessler (Head of School)
